Twickel Castle, Delden
Sptember 10, 2016
Part of the frontside of the Twickel castle.
The Orangerie, where you can eat and drink.
The right side.
Searching for a little surprise. We are following a sign that says: Bergje, meaning ‘little mountain’. We don't know what it is, and are very surprised to finally spot it.
If you still not see on the picture what we see, go to the next one.
There indeed is a little mountain and there's a building on top of it.
The climb to the top has been made easy, but it takes a while to get there.
The hill is very narrow, yet high enough to make a serious fall if you make a misstep. There is no fence around the hilltop.
The open space contains a stone table with directions and distances to peculiar areas and cities. Like: Wassenaar 156 km. Probably other castles.
The impressive watertower in Neo-Renaissance style is still part of the Twickle estate, but can now be reached via an open road.
