Narrow-gauge railway, Rijssen

September 15, 2016

The narrow-gauge railway in Rijssen is a loam track (Dutch: Leemspoor). Originally used to transport clay from the loam fields to the many brick factories there once were in Rijssen. In my youth I was often watching the loam digging and the small dieseltrains that slowly rolled through the woods with their tip carts full of loam.
A group of enthousiast leemspoor-fans and former traindrivers decided to recreate a short narrow-gauge line in the woods just outside of Rijssen. And also acquire old original material like rails and diesel locs and restore them as much as possible.

This train however comes from an amusement park, and is more suitable to use for a fun ride over the new tracks.

RIJDAG means that the trains are making trips with passengers today.

This one still needs to be worked on. Often they arrive in a worse state.
