Narrow-gauge railway, Rijssen
September 15, 2016
The narrow-gauge railway in Rijssen is a loam track (Dutch: Leemspoor). Originally used to transport clay from the loam fields to the many brick factories there once were in Rijssen. In my youth I was often watching the loam digging and the small dieseltrains that slowly rolled through the woods with their tip carts full of loam.
This train however comes from an amusement park, and is more suitable to use for a fun ride over the new tracks.
RIJDAG means that the trains are making trips with passengers today.
The loc draws some open and closed cars.
Left: another train from an amusement park, right: an original Diema train.
It's busy at the end of the line (Markelosestraat) where the depot is.
Beautiful small steam loc.
In the distance there comes...
...another 'modern' train.
Children and grown-ups enjoy the model (steam)trains.
Nice old articles in the museum room and outside.
One of the restoration buildings.
All kinds of original diesel locs, including the well known Diema.
This one still needs to be worked on. Often they arrive in a worse state.
